Here at Tom’s Guitar Shop in the heart of Greenwich Market, we’ve got something seriously special on the wall — a 2023 Fender Custom Shop ’60 Stratocaster Relic in a jaw-dropping Chartreuse Sparkle finish. Completed on May 7th, 2023, and crafted by Custom Shop builder Tim Bahlem, this Strat is the perfect blend of vintage soul and modern Custom Shop mastery.
The finish alone is enough to stop you in your tracks — a heavily aged nitro Chartreuse Sparkle that looks like it’s lived a thousand gigs, while still feeling fresh and responsive under the fingers. The relic work is all factory-applied, giving it that road-worn mojo without any of the wear coming from outside the Fender Custom Shop walls.
Under the hood, you’re looking at a lightweight 2-piece select alder body, a silky smooth rift-sawn maple neck with a comfortable ‘60-style Oval “C” carve, and a dark AAA rosewood fingerboard with a modern 9.5” radius — fast, familiar, and incredibly playable. Loaded with hand-wound ‘60s Strat single-coils, this thing sings with vintage sparkle, punchy mids, and clear, articulate highs. Classic tone, but with all the Custom Shop refinement you could ask for.
It plays effortlessly, rings out loud acoustically, and absolutely comes alive through an amp. Whether you’re playing on stage or keeping it in a curated collection, this is one of those Custom Shop pieces that just feels special from the first strum.
